The full name of As-Sufi is Abdur Rahman bin Omar Razi. As Sufi is his title. He was born in the city of Roy in 291 AH according to 903 AD. As Sufi was one of the great astronomers of the Muslims. He benefited greatly from Ptolemy's book Al Majesty. As Sufi observed many sects. And determined the rotation and position of the star. He said that the earth is round. As-Sufi described the length-width limits of different stars. As Sufi also counted the stars. And discovered many stars that were not previously known. Then drew a map of the sky. In which he described or directed the condition of the stars. And formed the shape of the star. This he did by looking at the rays and brightness and shape of the star. Louis Richardson, an English scientist, says that As-Sufi described the light intensity of more than a thousand stars before the invention of the photometer. He has written many books, one of which is the famous book صور الكواكب التابته. He made a map of the sky. He also mapped galaxies shaped like humans and animals. He was the first to describe that the color of the star changes. He determined the exact velocity of the star. As-Sufi was known as Azophi in European countries. A moon was named after him, especially because of his contributions. In addition, a planet was named after him - "Azophi 12621". As-Sufi was during the time of Banu Buayyar. He died in Siraj in 97 AH (36 AH).
